Hike to Foster Falls with Naturalist Randy Hedgepath

Come join us on an outing to one of the Cumblerland Plateau's most scenic places. Beyond the breathtaking camera opportunities, Foster Falls is home to a vibrant forest community. Tennessee state naturalist Randy Hedgepath will lead us on an exploration of the unique ecology of the region's waterfall habitats, where many uncommon and endemic species live. We'll get started at 10 EST/9CST (the site is in central time!) at the Foster Falls trailhead. At only a 45 minute drive ftrom downtown Chattanooga, this is a great opportunity to enjoy the fall colors and see a celebrated part of the region's scenic beauty.  As a land recovering from the days of extensive fossil fuel mining, the Cumberland Plateau is becoming more and more a focal point for conservation.  The area around Foster Falls, Fall Creek Falls, and Savage Gulf are getting discovered by outdoors enthusiasts who marvel a their scenic beauty.
 Schedule and Directions

Our hike is scheduled for October 19 from 9-2 Central Standard Time (Eastern Time Folks take note!)   This is considered a moderate difficulty hike.  Good footwear and a small pack for snacks and a drink are highly recommended.

The trailhead is located at the end of Foster Falls Rd, Sequatchie, TN 37374.     Foster Falls Road is off Highway 41 between Monteagle and Chattanooga, so not too many twists and turns.  Contact us at 423.693.4729   or info@tennesseeheartwood.org for more information.
